Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) Power Interruption Schedule for April 13 - May 1, 2016
The problem of power interruptions and rotating brownouts in Davao City and other parts of Mindanao has gotten worse over the past weeks, as the scheduled power interruption has increased from 1-2 hours up to 4-5 hours, as the power deficit from generating plants has increased to an average of 100MW. This new scheme will start today, April 3, 2016 and will probably lasts till the end of April.
For the complete schedule, refer to the picture below:
Here's the complete statement of Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC)
For every 20 MW deficit, duration of the rotating outages will be at a maximum of 1 hour.
The maximum duration of the rotating power outages will be divided in to two schedules. Four hours during the peak period (8AM to 8PM) and 1 hour during the off-peak period (7AM to 8AM and 8PM to 12MN).
The reasons are still due to the worsening effect of the El Nino Phenomenon to the major hydro power plants in Mindanao, recent emergency outage of two Agus plants and the shutdown of one of the units of the Therma South Inc. coal-fired power plant last April 6.
Power supply is projected to improve on April 21 once the said unit of the TSI, which is currently offline, will be back online as scheduled.
Meanwhile, starting May 2016, additional power will come in to Davao Light franchise with its contract with the SPPC. Also, generating capacity of the major hydro power plants in Mindanao are projected to improve as the rainy season will start to commence as based on the PAG-ASA's forecast.
Another additional power supply from San Miguel that Davao Light has contracted with is said to operate in August 2016.
Davao Light deeply apologizes for the inconvenience that these rotating power interruptions, which are beyond our control, have caused our customers.
