Davao City and the rest of Mindanao serviced by Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) will continue to experience rotational brownouts starting next week; February 29, 2016 to March 6, 2016.

However, in an official announcement made by Therma South Inc., once their power plant, which has undergone preventive shutdown goes back online on February 28, the rotating brownout starting on Monday, February 29 is projected to decrease from 2-3 hours to 1-2 hours.

Major hydropower plants in Mindanao remain to be derated due to the El Nino Phenomenon and some were still isolated due to the bombings of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines' transmission lines. Other hydro sources of Davao Light such as Hedcor Sibulan is also affected by the impact of the El Nino Phenomenon.
