Scratch Cards as Fund Raising System for Duterte-Cayetano Campaign

Davao City Mayor and Presidential aspirant Rodrigo Duterte has said many times for the record that he has no money to support a national campaign for his candidacy and he will definitely not accept money or any forms of donations from businessmen who might use this to take advantage of his presidency. However, his camp has found a noble and unique way to raise funds for his campaign, and it through scratch card.

As what I mentioned, this is the first time in the history of Philippine politics that a certain candidate used scratch cards to raise funds for their campaign. This scratch cards typically work the same as that of prepaid load cards. The card contains a pin number under the the thin film, and the card bearer will use that pin number and send it to the mobile numbers written at the back of the card. In addition, the scratch cards are wonderfully designed with Duterte's pictures and his slogan "Tunay na Pagbabago" in the front and instructions on how to use the card on its back. According to one of Duterte's campaign managers Peter Laviña on his facebook account:

This is a 3-in-1 creative way to reach out to our supporters and donors. (1) The cards serve as campaign materials and are good for souvenirs (2) it is a system to donate financial assistance to the #DuterteCayetano campaign, and (3) if registered through a secured PIN (which you need to scratch), we generate a data base of supporters who will then received timely messages from our presidential and vice presidential bets and our campaign team.
