Duterte-Cayetano Tandem Kicks off Campaign Proclamation Rally in Tondo, Bohol and Davao City
It's the official start of the
campaign season in the Philippines for the 2016 Presidential Elections. On the
first of day of campaign, it has become a tradition for every presidential
aspirant, their running mate and their political party to host a campaign rally
together with their supporters; traditionally in the province where the
presidential or vice-presidential aspirant was born, or a place significant to
a political party and their supporters.
Grace Poe-Chiz Escudero Tandem had
their political rally in Plaza Miranda, Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo had their
rally in Roxas City, Capiz - the birthplace of Mar. Miriam Santiago - Bongbong
Marcos were in Batac, Ilocos Norte - the hometown of the Marcoses. Jojo Binay
and Gringo Honasan had their rally in Mandaluyong - the city next to Binay's
Makati City. However, the tandem of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Senator
Alan Peter Cayetano seems like to break the political tradition of this country
by having their political rally on a place that's not the bailiwick of neither
of the two; and that place is in Tondo, Manila.
Ironically, Tondo, Manila is the place known to many as the place where criminals, drug addicts and other forms of lawlessness seems to be prevalent - the stuffs that Mayor Duterte hated the most. In addition, Tondo is also the representation of the country's poor people, migrating from the provinces to Metro Manila, seeking for greener pasture, but turned into a disaster. In fact, a lot of people living in poor areas in Tondo were from provinces in Mindanao.
There
are also Duterte supporters in different parts of the country, including,
Cavite, Cagayan De Oro, General Santos and Lanao Del Norte that conducted
motorcade to show their support to Duterte-Cayetano tandem. Check out the
pictures for the proclamation rally in Tondo and in Davao City.
