INDAK INDAK SA KADAYAWAN 2022

37th Kadayawan sa Davao Celebration

 

GENERAL MECHANICS AND GUIDELINES

1.    This competition is open to all interested groups (provincial school-based, community based, organization, school-based) in Davao City and outside provinces.


2.    Participating contingent should be composed of not more than 120 members and not less than 90 members- musicians and floor assistants included; dancers should not be less than 70 members and musicians should not be less than 20 members.


3.    Participating contingent shall fill up the official INDAK INDAK SA KADAYAWAN 2022 entry form and shall submit the following:

 

      Performance Synopsis (not more than 50 words); subject for editing

      Contingent List, stating the names of the participants, gender, age and roles/functions (refer to the official form)

      Provincial contingents shall wear their respective school ID upon entry in Davao City and should bring with them any valid government issued ID for an easy and smooth access to the Task Force Davao Priority Lane (an endorsement letter from their Mayor is required). 


4.    The contingent contest piece should be a free interpretation/ adaptation of any of the Davao City’s eleven (11) tribes’ culture,  in a form of dance and live music. It should also depict the theme or concept that is relevant to the Kadayawan sa Davao 2022 Celebration- KASIKAS SA KADAYAWAN..


5.    Each contingent shall assign bearer (in costume) of the official entry ID that should be displayed at the left hand side in front of every performance for judges’ identification; other signage, banners and  logo display that promote  branding shall not be allowed and may constitute contingents’ disqualification.


6.    Each contingent shall incorporate the Kadayawan sa Davao official jingle in their grand showdown performance and shall provide their own live music/rhythm section and musical instruments set to indigenous beats complimentary to the tribe and/or festival represented; the use of canned music is strictly prohibited.


7.    Each contingent has the prerogative of incorporating mobile sound boxes on their props to amplify the audio levels of their instruments; there is a free use of wind and percussion instruments. However, electronic instruments such as drum pads, electric guitars, keyboards among others are strictly prohibited. 


8.    Props must be relevant to the performance and should be carried by the dancers. Each contingent is allowed to use a maximum of eight (8) panels only with a maximum individual panel dimension of five (5) ft in length and eight (8) ft in height from the stage platform and should not exceed ten (10) ft when elevated from a riser; killing of animals, the use of flammables, smoke grenades and pyrotechnics are strictly prohibited.


9.    All risers/ additional platforms should not be more than two (2) ft in height.


10. Proper costumes/ wardrobe shall be worn by all performers of each contingents including production assistant, ID bearers and musicians as they are integral parts of aesthetic value of each presentation. All costumes should come with a mask thematic to the costume’s concept.


11. Dance steps and choreography should be progressive all throughout the parade to facilitate the continuity and to preserve the momentum of the parade.


12. No vehicle should be used in transporting huge instruments; only movable contraptions, trolleys, wheelers are allowed for carriage and should not jeopardize traffic during ingress and egress (must not be more than 10ft in height from the ground)


13. Kick off the point shall be at CM Recto St. with each contingent performing a 2 MINUTE TEASER PERFORMANCE on every STOP OVER (satellite competition site) during the parade and a full competition repertoire of not less than 5 minutes and not more than 8 minutes during the culminating Grand Showdown in San Pedro St.; each contingent will only be given 90 seconds to ingress and 90 seconds to egress on every competition site. A long horn blow will signal the start of the performance.  


14. During all performances beginning with the two satellite competition sites and the grand showdown in San Pedro St. with a Ring Type Platform (dimensions56ft × 80ft × 3ft), performances should be on a FOUR-SIDED VIEWING (ARENA TYPE) to accommodate spectators viewing from the four sides of the stage/site, three sets of judges will be deployed during the competition – two STOP OVERS- CM Recto corner Palma Gil Sts., Pelayo corner Bonifacio Sts, and in San Pedro St. for the Grand Showdown.


15. Final contingent scores will be derived from the following: 40% of the 2 minutes STOP OVER & street performances and 60% of the Grand Showdown in San Pedro St.; ranking system will be applied. 


16. Performance and performers’ SAFETY is a MUST; All participating members of the parade must be in MASK and masks should be an integral part of the contingents costume. Davao City Local Government shall not be held liable for any accidents brought by the negligence and irresponsibility of participating contingents.


17. An individual violation constitutes a 3 point across the board demerit which will be casted by the Violations Committee of the competition. This will be deducted from the overall cumulative points garnered by the contingent before the final ranking

 

18. All meetings and rehearsals SHOULD be attended by the contingents’ official representative and/or contingent manager and should provide 2 signed copies of a photocopied government issued ID.  

 

19. An-through and stage blocking of all Davao City School Based contingents will be in the morning of August 19 and provincial contingents will block in the afternoon – draw lots will be done for the time allocation of all contingents.


20. The grand winners of both categories will showcase their performance once again in the morning of the Pamulak sa Kadayawan on the following day.


21. Deadline of submission of the official INDAK INDAK SA KADAYAWAN 2022 contingent entry form will be on July 29, 2022. Contingent Managers meeting will be on July 30, 2022.

This category refers to all interested groups (provincial school-based, community based, corporate sponsored contingent, organization etc., al.) in Davao City and outside provinces.

 

          DAVAO CITY SCHOOL BASED CATEGORY

      This category refers to all elementary and high school based groups or a combination of both within Davao City only: musicians may be imported but dancers should be a bona fide student of the school represented- an endorsement letter from the school principal is required.

      All Davao City contingents passing the critiquing/screening will be given subsidy.
