37th Kadayawan Sa Dabaw 2022 Update: Pamulak Sa Kadayawan 2022 (Floral Float Parade) Official Guidelines and Mechanics

PAMULAK SA KADAYAWAN 2022
(Floral Float Parade)
OFFICIAL GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS
1. Any person,
group, organization, institution or company can join the competition.
2. The Floral
Floats may be a free interpretation in the celebration of life, thanksgiving
for the gifts of nature, the wealth of culture, and the bounties of harvest of
the city, its traditions, myths, and legends shall depict the theme or concept
of the KADAYAWAN SA DABAW 2022 Celebration ”KASIKAS
SA KADAYAWAN” The Floral Float Parade shall have two (2) categories,
namely:
a.
COMPETING Floats:
DAKO – (Big) Category
Ø MINIMUM SIZE of float is 8 feet in width and 16 feet in length.
Ø
Competing Floral floats shall use AT LEAST 80% fresh flowers, plants, fruits or vegetables as a medium.
Ø
The maximum
height for all floats shall be 14
feet from the ground.
Ø
The Pamulak
sa Kadayawan Parade Committee (with approval from City Mayor’s Office)
shall determine the judges; the participants should comply these requirements
and the committee shall have the prerogative to disqualify non complying
entries of the competition.
GAMAY – (Small) Category
Ø
Anything BELOW
8ft in width and 16 feet in length including
indigenous or extraordinary small vehicles or contraptions which may either be
motorized or manually driven. Entries may also include but not be limited to
mini-cars, golf carts, mini tractors, push carts, karo, Pedicabs and etc..
Ø
Competing Floral floats shall use AT LEAST 80% fresh flowers, plants, fruits or vegetables as a medium.
Ø
The maximum
height for all floats shall be 14
feet from the ground.
Ø
The Pamulak
sa Kadayawan Parade Committee (with approval from City Mayor’s Office)
shall determine the judges; the participants should comply these requirements
and the committee shall have the prerogative to disqualify non complying
entries of the competition.
LAHI – (Alternative) Category
Ø
Anything indigenous or extraordinary small
vehicles or contraptions, trolleys,
wheelers that should be animal driven; NOT
electric, motorized and fuel powered vehicles.
Ø
Competing Floral floats shall use AT LEAST 80% fresh flowers, plants, fruits or vegetables, even Animals MUST
be adorned as a medium, .
Ø
The maximum
height for all floats shall be 14
feet from the ground.
Ø
The Pamulak
sa Kadayawan parade committee shall determine the judges; the participants
should comply these requirements and the committee shall have the prerogative
to disqualify non complying entries of the competition.
b.
Corporate -
(Non-Competing) Floats
Ø
Corporate Floral Float entries are required to
use AT LEAST 20% fresh flowers,
plants, fruits or vegetables as a medium.
Ø
The maximum
height for all floats shall be 14
feet from the ground.
Ø
The Pamulak
sa Kadayawan Parade Committee (with approval from City Mayor’s Office)
shall determine the judges; the participants should comply these requirements
and the committee shall have the prerogative to disqualify non complying
entries of the competition.
For the Corporate Float, a participation entry fee is
assessed at ₱ 25,000.00 especially for entities that lead to promote a product
or commercial business/firm.
3. Deadline of
submission of participation entries to the parade will be on August 08, 2022.
4. Participants
should submit a description and explanation of the float’s symbolism in not
more than 150 words on or before but not later than August 15, 2022. The description and explanation shall be read
during the actual day of the parade as the float approaches the end point of
the parade route. Taped summaries will not be accepted.
5. The Pamulak sa Kadayawan Parade contestants
will draw lots for the sequence of the floats and street assignments for
assembly purposes during the final briefing of all parade participants. Final
briefing will be on August 15, 2022 at
2:00PM at the Kadayawan 2022 Secretariat, (Briefing Venue Location – TBA).
6. Judging of
entries shall be on the day of the parade August 21, 2022 and shall start at
exactly 7:00 AM at Roxas Avenue.
7. The Pamulak sa Kadayawan Parade Committee
reserves the right to disqualify any entry that fails to abide by the
stipulation signified in this guideline.
8. The
Kadayawan 2022 Executive Committee shall carefully select a panel of five (5)
judges. Their decisions shall be considered final and therefore not appealable.
9. Criteria
for judging are as follows:
v Symbolism
(20%) – The entry should project and symbolize the meaning of Kadayawan.
v Design
(40%) – This pertains to the concept and artistic merits of the design taking
into consideration Balance, Proportion, Emphasis and Repetition, Harmony and
Rhythm as primarily reflected in shapes/images and colors.
v Execution (40%) – How the design is realized and how the float is made are the focus in this criterion. Quality of craftsmanship, stability of structure and decoration, choice and creative use of materials will also be considered.
10. The prizes
to be awarded are the following:
