As mentioned in my previous post about the 30th kadayawan opening part 1, it was unfortunately postponed because of the heavy rains. The formal opening ceremonies for the 30th kadayawan festival was rescheduled on thursday, August 20, 2015. The program went through smoothly. No signs of rain and more people gathered to witness the opening ceremonies, headed by Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. The program was also livelier than the postponed program, even getting popular hosts from ABS-CBN Davao.

Program highlights include the presentation of 11 Tribes in Davao City and some cultural dances. Mayor Duterte also gave his inspirational message about unity in the city and in the celebration regardless of what nationality, religion and tribe each of the visitor belongs. He does not want to create an identity crisis, but treat everyone with respect. He even urged those people in the most rural places in Mindanao to come and enjoy the festival. But, the best part of the program was the moment he was called to come up to the stage and dance Watch me whip, Nae-Nae together with the Davao City councilors. That was really fun and heartwarming sight to see our beloved Mayor dance in front of thousands of people. The program ended with a street foam party, which makes the entire San Pedro Street, loud and festive.
